A Safety Network

The freedom of being an adult, living on campus, and walking almost everywhere comes with its own dangers. Late night walks, unfamiliar faces, and unpredictable situations can quickly turn a fun outing into a dangerous moment. That is where having a safety network to rely on becomes important.

A safety network is not only about having emergency contacts. Most of the time those contacts are hours away from the college. It’s about having people and systems in place that look out for you. Tools like Life360 can make you and your friends feel safer when partying or simply going out alone. Sharing your location with your roommate can even let you know when you are able to relax alone in your dorm room. These are people that know you and are really close by if an emergency happens, even if they just help by calling emergency services or informing the college that something has happened.

Another part of your network is campus safety. They are open to calls 24/7 and can help you with a range of things from unlocking your door to driving you to a safe location if you find yourself unable to get there by yourself. These are people who are here to keep every student safe, so if you have any doubts about who can help then they will most definitely be able to.

Finally, taking care of your physical safety isn’t the only important part. Your safety network also has counselors, crisis support, wellness resources, and much more. These people are provided by the college and are 100% free. So, remember, you are able to rely on this safety network whenever you find yourself in trouble.
