As students find their groove within this new semester, many are finding ways to
stay active between classes and homework. To learn more about where Maroons prefer
to work out, a recent poll highlighted three top locations: the Cregger Center, the
Alumni Gym, and outdoor spaces around campus. The data was gathered from two
groups: one via anonymous voting on YikYak, and the other through a personalized poll
where students could be directly contacted for more commentary.
It should come as no surprise that the Cregger Center took first place by a
landslide, with a combined total of 147 votes, with 128 from YikYak and 19 from the
personal poll. With its modern facilities, wide range of workout options, and well-
maintained spaces, it’s easy to see why this multi-million-dollar center stands out as a
student favorite.
Coming in second place was the great outdoors, with a combined total of 55
votes, with 51 from YikYak and 4 from the personal poll. Whether walking across the
scenic campus, jogging the track, or playing a game of spikeball on the MAQ, many
students prefer the fresh air and calming environment the campus has to offer.
Rounding out the list was the Alumni Gym, which took in a total of 38 votes, with
36 from YikYak and 2 from the secondary poll. Once considered a mid-tier facility
compared to its more modern counterpart, recent renovations, updated machines, and
access to a pool have helped Alumni maintain its appeal to student athletes.
No matter where you choose, how will you keep moving this semester?
