Last publication, we saw maroons talking about the world abroad and the wonders they’d like to see or even have seen. However, today, I figured it’d be good to have a relaxing reflection on the place that we all share: the Roanoke College campus. While there are endless possibilities when discussing our respective loves with the campus, here are just a few questions given to some campus residents that capture the grandeur of being able to exist on such beautiful college grounds.
What is your favorite place to hang out on campus outside, and why? “Even as someone who isn’t spending a lot of time outside, the Sutton Terrace outside Cav is very nice. The umbrellas are good for shade, and when it’s nice out, the view of the mountains is incredible. Also, those chairs that face the mountains are super comfy to sit in.” – Jenna Thompson (Class of ‘27)
What is your favorite academic building and why? “Perhaps this comes with some bias due to my major and where most of my classes have been, but I believe Miller is my favorite. The professors there are quite wonderful, it’s very small and has very good lounge areas that are centered as opposed to the layout of other Halls.” – Alexander Fritze (Class of ‘26)
What is your favorite activity to do in the game room, and why? “Ping-pong, easily. Last semester I tried out the tournament but that didn’t go so well for me. I wasn’t able to make it to this recent one, but the next one I’ll be ready. I even have my own personal paddle that I use to destroy my enemies, and I’ll use it for the next tournament.” – Michael “Ping-pong master” Foley (Class of ‘29)
