Polling Maroons: Pie Flavor Favorites
The air is beginning to get crisp, and the mornings are getting colder, but students’ spirits are just warming up. A recent poll asked students to share their favorite flavor of pie in celebration
of the upcoming Thanksgiving break. The options in the poll included pumpkin, apple, cherry, sweet potato, and “other.” The results revealed interesting trends on campus.
Apple pie emerged victorious, winning over many students with its comforting, familiar flavor. Many cited nostalgic memories of warmth and family gatherings that made apple pie a
special choice for them.
“I just really love warm apple pie with a scoop of ice cream on top,” said Ama Damuah ‘26,
“Also, when I was younger, my auntie would always get an apple crumble pie, pop it in the oven, and then serve it with a scoop of vanilla ice cream after dinner. Since then, my go-to pie preference
has been specifically warm apple pie with ice cream on top!”
The other flavors on the list also garnered their fair share of support, with pumpkin pie coming in second place. Many students expressed a deep love for pumpkin pie, especially during
the fall season. Its blend of warm spices, such as cinnamon and nutmeg, paired with its creamy texture, makes it a staple at Thanksgiving tables.
While apple pie claimed the top spot, it’s clear that each pie flavor holds a special place in students’ hearts and traditions. As Thanksgiving approaches, the variety of pie preferences
reminds us that food is not just about taste — it’s about the memories and warmth shared around
the table.
