A Little Bit About Juniper

by Juniper Rogers

A Quick Note:   Hello.  Hi!  How’d you do?  With this being the first issue that I am editing this page, I figured I would introduce myself to our lovely readers.  My name is Juniper Rogers, my pronouns are they/she, and I am a freshman.  I am going to major in creative writing and I hope to minor in environmental studies as well.  Starting this semester, I am the president of the RC Communitarians, which is a political outlet for left-leaning folks who are especially interesting in local politics.  I look forward to the many issues I hope to contribute and edit for the Brackety-Ack.  Every time I remember that I contribute to my college newspaper, one that most of my friends and peers read, a smile greets my face.  I cannot wait to see where this community takes me , and thank you for reading!

Another Quick Note:   So you know the recycling situation?  How even though there are recycling bins placed all over campus there is no concrete procedure for adequately disposing of recyclables?  I keep on hearing about friends seeing housekeeping putting the recycling bins right into dumpsters full of trash.  Insane!  I gaze out to the Blue Ridge and think to myself, how can we let this happen?  If you also want to keep these beautiful mountains clean and sustainable, please get involved with the great people at RC Sustain and join the effort to make our campus more environmentally conscious.
