With Valentine’s Day upon us, students are reflecting on how they plan to spend the day, balancing romance, winter fun, and personal connections. This day offers a chance to pause and celebrate what matters most, whether through romantic gestures, heartfelt emotions, or meaningful moments. As the campus continues to bustle with activity, it’s clear that this time of year brings unique perspectives and traditions. In this article, we take a closer look at how students are approaching the holiday, sharing their thoughts on love, winter essentials, and the art of admiration.
In response to “What are you plans for Valentine’s Day?”
Jonathan Shumate ’25 said, “I will be spending time with my boyfriend. Hopefully, I will be able to surprise him with flowers and dinner. It is our first Valentine’s Day together, so I’m quite excited.”
In response to “What is your favorite cold weather apparel item?”
Matt Haakenson ’26 said, “My favorite cold weather clothing item would be snow gloves because they allow me to do more things in the snow. I love doing snowball fights and building things out of snow and ice, so they’re a great accessory to keep my hands warm.”
In response to “How do you feel about the concept of secret admirers?”
Cristiano DiMaro ’27 said, “Where does the line get drawn between secret admirers and stalkers? I feel like it can be a sweet gesture but also kind of creepy. If you want to tell someone you admire them, just be honest and go for it.”
