Habitat for Humanity and Roanoke College’s a cappella groups (Main Street, RoaNotes, and Looking for an Echo) are colliding for an annual music bash, A Cappella Carnivella, on March 23 at 7 p.m. The show will be held in the Bast Center. All proceeds from the event go to Habitat for Humanity
Celebrating its 20th year on campus this year, Main Street is the all-female group, known mainly for its rendition of “Amazing Grace.” The ladies, iconic for their pink sneakers, will sing “Secret Love Song” by Little Mix, a mashup of “Home” and “Dirty Paws,” an Adele mashup and “Jolene” by Dolly Parton.
“We love supporting Habitat for Humanity, and we hope everyone can come out Friday and hear the amazing talent of all the groups,” said senior Sam Young, Main Street president.
Looking for an Echo is an all-male group which is most recognized for its rendition of the alma mater with corresponding interpretive dance moves.
RoaNotes is a male and female a cappella group, and its members are always dressed in the color scheme of maroon, grey, black and white for their performances. They are the only a cappella group on campus that competes for the International Championship of Collegiate A Cappella.
“The RoaNotes are excited to be performing some of our favorite songs, both old and new. We have a song from our ICCA set list, too,” said junior Noelle Warfford, assistant music director of RoaNotes.
The group will be singing “Dance in the Graveyards” by Delta Rae, “Cosmic Love” by Florence and the Machine, “Better” by Banks and a mashup of “Right Round” and “I Kissed a Girl.”
