Last weekend, daylight savings took away an hour of our precious sleep during the “spring forward.” Now that temperatures are getting warmer and the sun is setting later, life seems a little bit brighter. With this newfound light and warmth in our evenings, students are able to spend those extra hours engaging in outside activities!
Campus life is blooming this time of year. People are more tempted to go out when they don’t have to carry an oversized coat just to not freeze; and with the promise of longer sunlight, evening classes feel less draining when you step out and see that beautiful sunset painting the sky.
So, take advantage of the weather before it becomes scorchingly hot during the summer (which is predicted to be especially hot) and go out. Enjoy a nice walk under the shade of trees or a warm picnic under the sweltering sun with friends. It is nice out and you never know how long it will stay this way, so take advantage of it and go outside. Even if you are looking to work on assignments or study for tests, a change of environment from the confines of the library can help you feel motivated to work harder.
Stay until late to play sports, jog and enjoy the quietness of the early evening, watch the sunset. Use these extra hours of light wisely. Losing an hour of sleep might be hard but we gained so much joy from it. Have a great sunny evening, Maroons!
