Tricky weather

March weather has been a surprise each day. In one week you could have an extremely hot and sunny day and the next day would be pouring and windy. Personally, I have found myself unprepared for the different weather conditions as soon as I step out of my room. So, let me be the first to tell you about some things we should start preparing before venturing outside.

The most obvious thing would be to check the weather app before heading out. If you have a routine in which you wake up and immediately check the weather to plan your outfit, that works great! Unfortunately, some of us completely forget to even glance at it, running out five minutes before class starts because we slept in. Even then, sometimes it can be unreliable and change as the day goes on! Weather is unpredictable, especially at this time of year.

So, if for whatever reason we don’t check the app or look outside before leaving, what should we do then? Well, as people say: “Better safe than sorry”! Make sure you have anything you might need with you throughout the day. Small umbrellas are cheap and easy to find in places like Five Below or, if you need one as soon as possible, at the campus store. These fit comfortably inside backpacks and will definitely make you thankful if it suddenly starts pouring. And while looking into the campus store you might as well check for some sunscreen too; as much as we need to spend some time in the sun for our health it is also not great for our skin if we are constantly getting burned. This way if you go out and you feel the blazing sun on your skin you will already have protection from it in your backpack!

Keeping these essentials in a convenient place that you won’t forget in your room is key to always being prepared. Put in a bit of pre-planning, and you’ll be ready for whatever Spring weather brings!
