The beginning of November has always felt to me like the calm before the storm. Thanksgiving, Black Friday, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, Christmas, and New Year’s are all crammed into the next month and a half, which makes it quite an overwhelming time for some people. Personally, my dad’s birthday is also around Thanksgiving, which adds just another significant date to worry about. To prepare for the battle that’s about to come, I recommend some things so that the holidays can go as smoothly as possible!
First of all, begin planning for gifts. I can’t stress this enough. It may seem a bit soon, but I guarantee that when all these holidays and your finals are happening, you will find yourself rummaging through the scraps if you don’t start planning soon. This also means planning for Black Friday deals! Online, you are able to start investigating which stores may be having good Black Friday deals, so make sure you’re aware of your options!
Create a budget! The next month and a half will get expensive. Between food, decorations, gifts, and deals that you just can’t pass on, you won’t even realize when you are in the red! This is why it is important to have a set budget in mind. This can be multiple small budgets for each aspect of the holidays, or a big budget that would last you until New Year’s. This avoids over-expending and stress during these fun times.
Take advantage of November, these weeks in which it seems that not much is going on, because then you will be able to enjoy the holidays.
