The 16th annual President’s Ball, known to students as the “R Ball” or formally “Prez Ball”, will be held Friday, February 21st from 8:00 to 11:00 PM. This event will be held in the Colket Center.
Tickets will be available at the information desk in Colket starting Monday, February 17th. Each student with a Maroon ID will be able to receive up to two free tickets for the event, so you can bring a friend or a partner!
According to the Campus Activities website, the President’s Ball is a tradition at Roanoke College that is “so fun we do it every year”. This event brings together the RC community, with traditions such as when former Roanoke College President Michael C. Maxey taught students how to tie a bowtie before the event.
The President’s Ball will allow students, faculty, administration, and staff to engage outside of the classroom and come together as a community. Here, they can take a break from the normal stress that comes along with the hectic pace of spring semester.
In the past, there have been live bands, DJs, and food at the President’s Ball. This year, you can expect music, entertainment, food, and fun according to the Roanoke College website. This is one of the campus’s biggest nights out, with the Roanoke Times even featuring it in the past.
The flyer for the event says to “dress to impress”, so make sure to show up for the event in your best semi-formal attire and have fun! Who knows, you might just have the honor of being featured on President Shushok’s Instagram account!
