On-Campus Celebration

Thanksgiving break is around the corner. Lots of students are doing last-minute preparations before they go back home for the celebration. But not everyone is leaving. If you are someone who will stay in college during this time, there are still a lot of fun things that you can do during the week! Here are some ideas about how to spend your time.

  1. Walk around downtown Salem and go into stores you have never been to before! What better way to give thanks than to support our community? There are a lot of small businesses around that you might not even know exist! For reference check out Maggie Raker’s series right on this page and past publications to see which places sound interesting to you!
  2. Binge-watch holiday specials and Thanksgiving movies! It can feel like there aren’t enough Thanksgiving movies but, to give you some ideas, animated movies such as “Free Birds” or “A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving” are great cozy options to lay back and enjoy the free time.
  3. You might have friends who will also stay on campus. Therefore, a fun idea to pass the time and create your own celebration would be to organize a Friendsgiving! Everyone can bring their own dish, or you can cook together and really appreciate the presence of those important people in your life.

And when it’s your turn to say what you are thankful for, make sure to reminisce about those moments full of laughter and connection between you and your peers. I am thankful for all of you. Have a great Thanksgiving.
