The women’s volleyball team at Noke had an impressive game this past Wednesday against East Mennonite. Hosted in Roanoke’s Cregger Center, the Maroons proceeded to win every single set over EMU, bringing back home an overwhelming victory. One of the key stars in this game was senior middle hitter Peyton Kirchner, successfully hitting 13 kills throughout the game and surpassing 1000 kills throughout her volleyball career. This achievement marks her as the seventh Maroon to ever reach this milestone in the program’s entire history, with the sixth being Rylee Mayer who also recently broke over 1000 kills in her career just last week.
Senior setter Kylee Draper also put in a lot of work, supporting a majority of the team’s attack with 17 assists and seven digs. Freshman libero Teagan Hublle had an amazing match high of 20 digs throughout the sets, alongside Raygan Wade finishing the match with 15 assists and eight digs herself. The entire team played fiercely, winning the first set 25-21 and the second 25-23 at a very close call. The third set was an extremely strong lead however of 25-18, ending the match shortly and putting another win in Roanoke’s books.
With only two games to go throughout the season, sadly Roanoke College Women’s Volleyball will be ending soon. Make sure not to miss them, with both taking place on Saturday, November 9th. The first match will be against Mary Baldwin University at Winston-Salem N.C. at 2:00PM, and the second opponent being Salem College at 4:00PM in the same location. Noke lost to Salem back in August, so hopefully with this grand finale, the Maroons will be able to become victorious in the end. Here we go, Maroons!
