The Roanoke College Women’s Volleyball team has cruised to an incredible 9-3 record this season! Interestingly enough, the team consists of mostly freshmen and seniors, which makes for a good amount of variety in terms of varying experience. Nonetheless, the Maroons have played exceptionally well throughout the season with an outstanding performance at the Maroon Classic hosted by Roanoke College. Wing Spiker Rylee Mayer leads the team in kills with a total of 170 points, a good portion coming from the Maroon Classic event. Freshman Libero Teagan Hubble leads the team in digs, with her most outstanding game being against Meredith on August 31st.
The first game against Meredith was a bit of a challenge with an upsetting 3-2 set loss, but the Maroons came back stronger than ever and won against the Avenging Angels in just three sets on September 10th! In the upcoming future, the volleyball players will face off against the menacing Virginia Wesleyan University on September 20th in Virginia Beach. This game will start a rigorous, yet thrilling chain of conference matchups for the determined Maroons. In hindsight, conference matchups seem to be slightly more difficult in comparison to typical scrimmages, but with a 9-3 record, this unstoppable team is ready to give it their all! The next home game sadly won’t be until October 9th, but the Maroons are excited to dominate the court in the next couple of weeks. Take the time to come out and support these women who have played an exceptional year so far!
