Well, the semester has begun and students everywhere are bustling about, busy with either work or classwork, or just getting something to eat. In the few weeks we’ve been here, there have already been a number of activities for students to attend, including Dragon Feast, where people played games, caught up with their friends and families, and even got to meet a real life dragon; and Salem Feast, where all the vendors came out and got to display their wonderfully made works of art of all kinds (some wood, some mental, etc.).
People are enjoying themselves through the entertainment of soccer games, talking to their friends they haven’t seen in a while, and even meeting new people. Not to mention Rooney’s. It seems like the line is always out the door for them, no matter what time of day it is. With the Starbucks Pumpkin Spice available there, no wonder people are getting excited. And, of course, they have the ever so popular matcha (try it with 2-3 pumps of caramel, it’s delicious).
In addition to the wonderful beauty of Starbucks, people seem to be enjoying all kinds of food around here, whether it’s new to them or not. There are multiple people on campus with drinks from Freshens; Mac and Bob is always full; and when I last went to the Salem dinner, it was absolutely packed- there were no more seats at one point! Mountain Brew coffee seems to
be another popular place thus far, there’s always tons of people sitting down, enjoying their drinks, chatting, catching up on homework, reading among other things.
Of course, there’s the vibe of Salem that needs to be mentioned as well. It is so peaceful and beautiful here, especially at night when all the lights hanging above the road are on. It truly
looks magical. This school year truly looks like it’s off to a great start.
