Cheap College Cuisine

Written by Sarah Joseph

Midterms are upon us! And with midterms, we often need some self-care. Self-care includes treating yourself, especially with some comfort food.

This week I will be giving you the recipe to my favorite steak sandwich, a little treat for all of you for the coming midterm week.   (If you’re a vegetarian or vegan, apologies!) This is not to be confused with a Philly Cheesesteak. I am not from Philadelphia, cheese is completely optional, and this is on top of garlic bread.

Directions

Defrost steak ahead of time. For vegetables chop to your preference. I typically do julienne for peppers and diced for onions.

  1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Once ready place bread in oven right on the rack and let toast for 12-15 minutes.

1.5 Take Steak and season (to taste) on one side with Cayenne, Sea salt, and Black Peppercorn.

  1. Place onions and peppers in a pre-heated pen. Cook for a minute or two before adding steak. Stir fry steak cooks quickly so leave on each side for about a minute.
  2. Once the bread is done let sit for a minute before adding all other ingredients.
  3. Cut in half, fourths, eighths, however much you want. Enjoy!!

*If you have leftovers wrap sandwich in plastic wrap, then in aluminum foil.
