Hey Maroons! As it is gearing close to the end of the semester, there are preparations for the next theater productions on the horizon. Over in Olin Theater, there will be auditions for the next two shows on December 2nd and December 3rd. The shows in turn are “A Monster Calls” adapted by Sally Cookson and Adam Peck (from the novel by Patrick Ness), “Grown Ups” by Skylar Fox and Simon Henriques, and to finish the 2024-2024 school year off is “POTUS, or Behind Every Great Dumb*ss Are Seven Women Trying to Keep Him Alive” By Selina Fillinger. If you are interested in these shows, but do not know what they are about, do not fret, here are what they are about!
Grown Ups is about a group of summer camp counselors who are worrying about preparing their campers for the realities of the real world despite trying to navigate young adulthood themselves. Hard choices come union them that force them to reconsider what kind of future they want to live in. This will be directed by Danielle Barre and the singular performance will be January 25th, at 4:00pm outside on Sutton Terrace (Cavern).
A Monster Calls is about 13-year-old Conor being confronted with an ancient monster talking about different paths he has walked before. When the Monster is done with his own trauma dump, Conor must tell his own story and face his own deep fears as to continue with his life. This will be directed by Danielle Barre and performances will be held February 20th through Saturday February 22nd at 7:30pm at Olin Theater.
The final show to be performed in the spring is POTUS! This is a special show since we will be having guest director, Mya Brown direct this show! This show is about how the nation’s capital ignites chaos at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue. As the President’s inner squad of seven women try to fix the chaos, they are thrown into a high-stakes situation of wit, determination, and a touch of rebellion against the personal and political world. Performances will be be held Thursday, April 10th through Saturday April 12th at 7:30pm at Olin Theater.
