by Victoria McGraw

In 2022, an Australian romantic comedy film, “Seriously Red,” directed by Gracie Otto and written by Krew Boylan came to theaters. The film is a hilarious look into the work world of celebrity impersonators with a story about a woman who hopes to become the best Dolly Parton impersonator. Boylan plays the starring role of Raylene Delaney (Red) and gets the experience of impersonating Dolly Parton. There is no doubt that Dolly Parton is one the greatest artists, a cultural icon, or in other words a national treasure. In fact, an international treasure in the film.
“I remember feeling in touch with being Australian and then being interested all of a sudden in Australian cinema, ” Dolly Parton said. “I relate to being an Australian more than I relate to being an American,” Parton said to reporter Claire White.
This movie starts off with a character named Red who lost her job as a real estate agent.
In the film, Red is known for being socially awkward and admits to having “an impulse control problem” and a mild drinking problem. She is a fanatically passionate fan of Dolly Parton and stumbled upon a celebrity impersonator job. Her dream was to become the world’s greatest Dolly Parton impersonator. Although Red had to lose herself in the process. She successfully finds her true happiness, which can be relatable throughout the process.
There are many other celebrity impersonators such as Rose Bryne playing Elvis and Bobby Cannavale playing Niel Diamond. The film seemed to be a hit or miss for many people, they hold a rating of 46% based on 39 reviews, with an average rating of 5/10 (Rotten Tomatoes). Many critics have criticized the writing of the film while calling the performances engaging and entertaining. However, other people feel this film was written and presented extremely well. The film is now streaming on Amazon Instant Video, Google Play, iTunes, and
