To the Class of 2021, From RC Faculty

Written by Devon Mitchell

Dear Seniors, congratulations on making it to the end! It’s been a windy, twisty, rocky kind of road but, here you are at graduation! Now that you are thrown into the scary world outside of the walls of the home we call Roanoke College, a couple of your professors wanted to share words of wisdom and congratulations.

Dr. Jennifer Berenson of the Religion and Philosophy department imparts this advice to the graduating class, “Cultivate openness and take the time to learn to love things that may not come naturally to you—especially cooking and gardening. You’re likely to spend a good deal of life on these mundane tasks, and you’ll be much happier if you find a way to make them enjoyable for yourself!”

Dr. Jennifer Jackl of the English and Communications department wishes the class of 2021 well saying, “To the cohort, I was lucky enough to be a Freshman with: May your days be filled with adventure, may you never grow weary of making the world a better place, and may the spirit of Roanoke College enable you to lead with purpose. I will miss you, but look forward to seeing what you do next to make me and the rest of RC proud!”

As you leave behind Roanoke and move onto the next stage in life, don’t forget the professors and mentors you have met. They certainly won’t forget you, and neither will we! Congratulations Class of 2021! We can’t wait to see where you go!
