No Longer Keeping Up With the Kardashians

Written by Kristina Calhoun

The ending of a reality TV show era is upon the E! Network. “Keeping Up with the Kardashians” is coming to an end after 14 years and 20 seasons.

The news came from the Kardashians themselves on their social media, saying, “After what will be 14 years, 20 seasons, hundreds of episodes and several spin-offs, we’ve decided as a family to end this very special journey. We are beyond grateful to all of you who’ve watched us for all of these years — through the good times, the bad times, the happiness, the tears and the many relationships and children. We’ll forever cherish the wonderful memories and countless people we’ve met along the way.”

The show debuted in 2007 and turned the family into global celebrities. Since they have become so big, the payroll for their network is not cheap. In 2017, E! Network inked a deal with the family that took them through 2020, valued at nine figures!

However, have no fear! These famous faces of television will not be gone for long — they are headed for Hulu. Details from the streaming service have not yet been announced; however, Disney has announced that content featuring Kris Jenner, Kim, Kourtney, Khloe, Kendall and Kylie would begin airing late this year.

The Hulu journey will showcase the way media has changed since the Kardashian-Jenners began their journey. The announcement of the monumental show came with a release from E! celebrating the 14 years in business with the celebrities. They helped transform the program from an entertainment news hub to an entertainment station for unscripted programming. The network expressed that they will miss the family and their day-to-day lives dearly, but they do respect the family’s wishes and desires to step out of the spotlight that followed them every second of every day.

They are not the first celebrity to want away from the paparazzi — look at Meghan Markle and Prince Harry. The paparazzi and the reality of waking up every day with cameras automatically in your face does get exhausting. The good news is that fans of the Kardashians will still get to see them and/or hear them in other works.
