Valentine’s Day is on its way and what better way to celebrate than with food. Whether you’re single or in a relationship, try branching out, getting off campus, and exploring new restaurants in the area.
One place I recommend is a place in Vinton, a little town right outside of downtown Roanoke.
Last spring, I had the pleasure of trying FarmBurguesa. FarmBurguesa is a local farm to table burger restaurant with uniquely dressed burgers. The owners of the restaurant are Colombian, thus it fuses American and Colombian cuisine. The name FarmBurguesa is a play on words: on the Spanish word for hamburger—hamburguesa.
During my visit, I tried the Colombiana burger. With the oft frequented fixings, i.e. mozzarella, bacon, lettuce, and onion, and the addition of green tomato and pineapple sauce, this meal was memorable and exciting.
Other burgers of theirs include Macho Cowboy, Santa Fe, and Inferno, and sides include waffle fries and even tostones. There are currently two locations of FarmBurguesa—one in Vinton and one in Grandin.
