Alyssa Nakken becomes the first full-time female coach in Major League Baseball history. Nakken was promoted to assistant coach of the San Francisco Giants after starting with the organization as an intern in 2014. Nakken comes with a master’s degree in sports management from the University of San Francisco.

Additionally, in anticipation of the Super Bowl on February 2nd, Katie Sowers will be the first female and first openly gay coach to attend the big game with her team. Offensive assistant of the San Francisco 49ers, Sowers has helped jumpstart the performances of the skill position players which has led to the first overall ranked rushing attack in the National Football League.
