Family Films in Theatres this Thanksgiving

Written by Charissa Roberson

Once the Thanksgiving feast is over, the long afternoon sets in — the perfect setting for a trip to the cinema. This year, two high-quality family films are coming out just in time for the holiday.

Disney’s sequel to their massive animated hit “Frozen” will be released in theatres Nov. 22.  This frosty flick will pick up with Anna, Elsa, Kristoff, and Olaf as the team ventures “Into the Unknown” to combat a mysterious threat to Arendelle. “Frozen II” will be full of heart, dazzling animation, and many new songs. Critics privy to early viewings have given the film relatively positive scores.

If you’re not in the mood for an animated adventure, another heartwarming feature will be coming to the big screen on Nov. 22.  Tom Hanks stars as beloved TV host Fred Rogers in “A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood,” a true story which follows journalist Tom Junod as he seeks to “profile” Rogers for an article on heroes. Ahead of the film’s release, “A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood” is garnering high praise and excellent reviews.  Paste Magazine says the film “resists being what you think it is going to be,” while the critics consensus on Rotten Tomatoes declares its “powerfully affecting message about acceptance and understanding.”

Both of these films, with PG ratings yet complex stories, offer high-quality entertainment for friends and family of all ages, making a cinema trip the perfect outing this Thanksgiving holiday.
