While most of us may fall into in-between categories in regard to this list, it’s safe to say that one of these four categories is what we relate to most.
The Try-Hards. These are the students that are always dressed to the nines. Their hair is always done, their outfits are untouchable, and they almost make you question whether they own sweatpants or not. These are the kids that are also really hard on themselves about their grades and their GPA, and they are always 10 minutes early to every class. They are very passionate about their subject area and aren’t afraid to show it. These people are the kind I wish I always was.
The One-and-Doners. Syllabus week they are on their game. They come 10 minutes early wearing matching outfits with accessories, ready for a new semester… for that week only. Then, you never see them dressed that nice ever again. By the end of the semester you wonder if that was the same person that was in class the first week or not. Their grades basically look the same way. They start out strong with their grades and then plateau, and that’s the end of it. These are the people that are usually involved in a lot of things as well and tend to get overwhelmed by all of their responsibilities.
The Just-Getting-By crowd. We all know the ones that come to class exactly on time or 1 minute late every day. They wake up 5 minutes before their alarm and then arrive in their pjs. They can often be good students, but you couldn’t tell from their outer appearance. You can tell they would rather be anywhere but sitting in lecture, and it shows. These kids usually don’t participate as often in class and have a tendency to procrastinate on their assignments.
The Here-for-a-Good-Time-Not-a-Long-Time crowd. These are the students that aren’t here for the actual education so much as they are for the good times college brings. They are here for the parties and the experience and have a tendency to leave the schoolwork and studying aspect on the backburner. They live for the parties and the good times that they have with their friends, and the thought of getting kicked out of school is not a worry that crosses their minds. These are the people that skip class more often than most and tend to have a GPA that isn’t favorable by most, but what they do have are some of the most memorable stories about their college days to tell their kids about.
