After an undefeated season at 12-0 overall, 4-0 in the conference, our men’s soccer team fell to Bridgewater College on Saturday and tied with Washington and Lee on Wednesday.

The Maroons hit the road to Bridegwater on Saturday for the Eagles’ homecoming weekend, and it all came together for the Eagles to make an upset on our #8 team. Bridgewater took the first goal after 34 minutes of play, and the score remained 1-0, Eagles, going into halftime.

The Eagles came out of the locker room with even more momentum, scoring in the first minute and a half of the second half. In the next five minutes of the game, the Eagles scored twice increasing their lead to 3-0.

Roanoke was quick in their attempt to make a comeback. Sophomore, midfield, Alec Taitague, scored 10 minutes into the half, but the Maroons couldn’t keep the action going.

The Maroons left Bridgewater with their first loss of the season, and couldn’t get going during their game on Wednesday against Washington and Lee.

Washington and Lee took the first goal off a penalty kick in the second half, and the Maroons followed with a goal from Joe Carmen, his first for the season.

The Maroons put up a fight in two overtimes, but neither team could get a goal, ending the game in a 1-1 tie.
