Dress Guide for President’s Ball

Written by Kaelyn Spickler

Prez ball is only three weeks away, on November 9, but that is still plenty of time to find the perfect dress. This year’s theme is “Rio de Roanoke Carnival,” so it will certainly be a classy event with some fun colors throwin in as well. The big question is where to find THE dress for the occasion.

Lulu’s: Lulu’s is a go-to place for classy dresses that you could re-wear for multiple occasions. Dresses are usually simple in style yet have a variety of lengths and necklines and also come in many different colors, so you will be sure to find one that flatters you. The price range here is typically around $40-$60.

Selfie Leslie: This online boutique is full of whimsical styles with subtle cutouts, lots of lace, ruffles here and there, and pastel colors. These dresses create a unique look and will certainly separate you from the basic cocktail dresses but will come at a cost of at least $55.

Showpo: This website has a little bit of everything. There are two-piece dresses, off the shoulder dresses, jumpsuits, long dresses, and tight dresses that all come in many different sizes, including plus-sizes. You can find one for $50, but they’re usually around $65.

Charlotte Russe: Charlotte Russe may be gone from Valley View, but they are still up and running online, and the price is right! You can find a sequin mini dress for $15. Their collection is full of eye-catching sparkles and sequins, but it includes some more simplistic dresses as well.

Shein: Shein is one of the largest fashion retailers in the world, so you can bet they have the trendiest dresses and lots of them. You can look for hours at the hundreds of dresses they have, and you can easily find one for less than $15.

Your best friend’s closet: At this point in our lives, us gals have accumulated one or two staple dresses, so check out your friend’s closets. You don’t have to deal with driving to the mall or paying for shipping, and it’s completely free, which makes it a win-win situation (as long as your bestie wasn’t planning on wearing the same dress).

There are plenty of places around here or online with hidden gems! Find the one that makes you feel the best, and you will be set.
