After a four-week tour in the United States, Irish traditional band The High Kings has announced that they will be returning to their native country in December for a 23-concert tour, according to Irish Central.
The High Kings rank among some of the most popular Irish bands, notable for bringing traditional tunes into the modern era with their own unique flair, which makes their music popular to fans all over the globe. According to Irish Music Daily’s website, in the States, The High Kings have played at Irish festivals and theaters, appeared on television, and even performed for the President in 2012.
With a varied sound created with the numerous instruments utilized in the band and a keen ear for both lyrics and music, The High Kings lend a stirring spirit to every song they perform, whether an old folk ballad like “Black Velvet Band,” or one of their originals, such as “Irish Pub Song.”
According to laoistoday.ie, the announcement of their Irish tour came at the beginning of September, along with the introduction of a new band member who will be joining just in time for the tour, Paul O’Brien. After the addition of this new member, The High Kings now consists of four musicians – with Finbarr Clancy, Brian Dunphy, and Darren Holden comprising the rest of the quartet.
During their upcoming tour, The High Kings will travel to almost every county on the island of Ireland, playing in major cities such as Dublin and Belfast before completing the tour in Killarney in early February.
