How YOU Can Be The Next Martha Stewart: Dorm Style

Written by Kaelyn Spickler

Are you trying to cut your meal plan down? Maybe you have cut your meal plan down, and you keep running out of swipes. It could also be that you are used to your momma’s cooking and want to have a little taste of home. I can’t guarantee these meal ideas will be as good as your mom’s, but they are quick and easy which is a good first step.

Breakfast (the most important meal of the day):

Muffins: Grab a mix at Wally World, whisk up a dozen muffins, and then you are set for the rest of the week.

Breakfast Sandwiches: Stock up on bagels at Cav, grab some eggs from commons, and you are well on your way to your own breakfast sandwich.

Healthy Parfait: Ask for a couple of yogurts and bananas during your next Cav run, and you have a good start to a yogurt parfait. Add some other fruit if you (or Commons) have it on hand, and sprinkle some granola or cereal, and voila.

LUNCH:

Easy wrap ideas: Keep your eye out for ingredients to help you make your own wonderful wrap 1) banana and peanut butter, 2) ham and cheese, 3) turkey and cheese, 4) marshmallow cream and peanut butter.

Nachos: Sprinkle some shredded cheese on top of some tortilla chips and put in the microwave for about 20 seconds, then add lettuce, salsa, sour cream, and guacamole if you’re really getting fancy.

Ultimate PB Crackers: Load up some graham crackers with peanut butter, and you have a tastier peanut butter cracker.

DINNER:

Pizza: Pick out a frozen pizza at Walmart and split it with your roomie or suitemates OR you can grab a pack of pizza crusts, a can of tomato sauce, and a bag of shredded cheese for a steal.

“Pigs in the blanket:” Cut hot dogs in half and wrap them in a Pillsbury Crescent roll, then put in the oven,

Buffalo Chicken Dip: This one requires more work, but it can be done. You can even sneak the ingredients from Commons and Cav: grilled chicken breast, cream cheese, ranch, buffalo wing sauce, and shredded cheese.

Don’t forget to take advantage of your extra swipes. You can go low-key grocery shopping in Cav. If you find it hard to have the extra swipes, go to Cav and use a swipe to get the ingredients to make one of these meals. Always keep your eye out in Commons because they do in fact have peanut butter, and a lot of these other ingredients- you just have to know where to look and who to ask.
