TRC Showcases Talent in Dark Comedy

Written by Emma Grosskopf

Theatre RC is a powerhouse for dramatic talent here on campus, and their most recent performance, Exit, Pursued by a Bear by Lauren Gunderson, is absolutely no exception.

This show, running from Feb. 20 until Feb. 23, has a small cast and an intimate layout, where audience members forgo their usual seats out in the auditorium for closer seats on the stage.

This performance is brought to life by the talents of freshman Sarah Jane Ruppert as the endearing Nan Carter, junior Tyler Barrett as the immensely unlikeable Kyle Carter, freshman Marcella Allison as the dynamic Sweetheart and sophomore Zachary Dalton as the charming Simon, with junior Emma Daisey as the talented stage manager, who also managed TRC’s production of Our Town last semester. Ruppert, Barrett and Dalton also starred in the Thornton Wilder classic Our Town.

The play, which is a darker comedy about serious themes of abuse and the importance of loyal friends, is as powerful as it is clever.

Tickets for the remaining Friday and Saturday shows can be found at the box office in Olin, and are free for RC students. Don’t let this opportunity to support Theatre RC in their winter production pass you by; head to Olin and prepare to have an equally entertaining and moving story unfold right in front of you.
