The end of winter and the dawn of spring are annually accompanied by seasonal variation in fashion and other forms of self-expression. The fashion week runways in Paris, Milan, New York, and London crawled with models exhibiting unique hairstyles and makeup looks that resembled a loud simplicity, yet spoke volumes about the individuality that is to be found is all trends of spring 2018.
Models under Tanya Taylor wore minimal coverage on the face, with peach colored lips, and brows brushed upwards. Tracy Reese had her models wear similar makeup, yet enhanced the look with bright pastel eyeshadows. Badgley Mischka also joined in this trend, but used a firetruck-red lipstick, in both matte and gloss finishes, to intensify the appearance.
Other designers took a different route, adorning their models with bold makeup that increased focus on the eyes. Models by designer Richmond wore dramatic black and pink eyeliner that encircled the eye and curled up around the brow bone, while those under Dries Van Noten had their eyes surrounded by a simple circle of silver rhinestones. Ashish combined these two looks with models wearing heavy blended charcoal colored eyeshadow with silver sparkles located on the inner corner of the eye.
The hairstyles exhibited on the runways largely resembled both the simplistic and brazen appearances found in the makeup. Tommy Hilfiger and Etro specialized their models with pulled-back hairstyles to open the face, whereas Cynthia Rowley and Rolan Mouret styled their models’ hair with highly voluminous loose waves that framed the face. Other designers such as Ferreti and Les Copains presented models with hairstyles in intricately tied low ponytails or a classic bun made exciting with a curled front piece.
All in all, it is evident that makeup and hair trends of 2018’s warmer seasons are anticipated to display a satisfying balance of boldness and simplicity that reflect individuality – human’s most beautiful and timeless look.
