Continuing onward with the ODAC journey with basketball at Roanoke College, the season is finally coming to a close. Both teams have shown exceptional results throughout the past couple of months, starting with Women’s Basketball.
On February 18th, right here at the Cregger Center, the Women’s Basketball team fought against Bridgewater College once more. Players such as Paige Breuer excelled with racking up to 13 points, as well as Ingrid Morales snatching two steals throughout the match. However, unfortunately the Maroons lost 41-71. They also sadly lost their matches against Washington and Lee University and Shenandoah University, however overall the team won half of their total ODAC games, and we couldn’t be more proud of their efforts!
Men’s Basketball has also been on an incredibly impressive run, absolutely dominating the ODAC scene. In their rematch against Ferrum College on February 18th at the Cregger Center, it was an incredibly close match that ran into overtime, but the Maroons managed to come out on top with a 75-73 win. Not only that, but their following match on February 22nd against Apprentice School also at the Cregger Center ended with an astounding 92-64 win in our favor. On February 26th Ferrum College rolled back to our home campus to try to get revenge, but the Men’s Basketball team was determined to succeed. Bell Jackson scored a stellar 21 points, and following right behind him Joshua McClary swished in 20. It was a match full of intensity, however as always, Noke won over Ferrum yet again with a clean 89-75 finish. With only a few more upcoming matches left, I’m sad to see the basketball scene slow down, but we’re all incredibly proud to see our Maroons shine and make us proud.
