Football?

What is it about football that gets everyone so ramped up and exited for the championship? The Super Bowl, is such a big deal every year and part of me wants to remind people that it comes back again next year. With its commercials and half time shows the producers of the game do everything that they can to make it seem like it is a once and a life time experience getting to see two teams play. It is not a once in a life time event, unless you are super into the half time show then it could be.

As someone who has watched quite a lot of sports both in person and on TV, I think football is over hyped. I was an athlete as a child playing Basketball, Soccer, and Volleyball. I also tried other sports like Hockey, Field Hockey and Softball. In my neighborhood we played football in the streets. I am experienced with sports and no matter how I look at it football makes no sense why it has the fan base that it does.

The thing about football that makes the lest sense to me is when I watch possession after possession and the same stupid play is called. The Quarterback gets the ball and hands it of to some one who instead of running around all the people runs right in the center. When I watch 9 out of 10 times they either lose a yard or do not move. It is not just the one team I am watching call this play but every single one. This mixed with the fact that football takes up three to four hours make me not understand to appeal.

Is it just people like to watch others tackle and smash each other? They quietly like to see someone hurt? Or the couple times the ball sours through the air makes up for it all? I don’t know why American Football is such a big deal and I don’t think I will ever understand the appeal when there are so many other sports to spend your time watching or playing.
