As Halloween wraps up and we begin to delve into the Thanksgiving and Winter holiday seasons, the overwhelming amount of Christmas music that begins to plague the radio already begins its ascension– looking at you specifically “All I Want for Christmas is You” by Mariah Carey. However, many may not be ready to say goodbye to the spooky season or put away their decorations. Good news is you don’t have to wait until next year to be absorbed in the spine-tingling vibes that many of us love to have when the leaves begin to fall.
Halloween themed music may be seen as corny and cliche to some people– especially those who first think of “Monster Mash” by Bobby Pickett. However, there are many songs you can use in your everyday lives just to have fun with.
First song that comes to mind is “Heads Will Roll”, originally Yeah Yeah Yeahs in 2009. Used in the 2015 “Goosebumps” film, the A-Trak remix became very popular with thrumming bass and electronic noises that twisted the older song before 2021’s “Sing 2” picked the song back up and had the award winning actress Scarlett Johansson perform the song herself with her gritty-yet-smooth voice and steal people’s breath away.
Second up for Halloween-themed music comes a classic by Rockwell from 1984, “Somebody’s Watching Me”. Holding guest vocals from Michael and Jermaine Jackson, the song is still played today on the radio and offers spooky synth and a memorable chorus, the song is definitely one to add on your playlist for daily work as it is just a generally fun song to dance to.
Finally comes the song that is always a hit classic; Michael Jackson’s 1984 hit song “Thriller”. A song almost everyone knows the dance for, “Thriller” definitely is something special with a rhythm that begs the listener to move along like hypnosis. It’s no wonder it made the list.
So, don’t despair that the Halloween season is over, keep the haunting party going and add some of these songs to your playlist next time you crave it!
