For the Valentine’s Edition of the Brackety-Ack, we are highlighting an athlete couple at Roanoke College! Introducing Davis Wheeler and Michaela Johnson, juniors on the Roanoke swim team.
What sports/events do you compete in?
Davis: I compete in the 200 IM, the 400 IM, and the 200 Breaststroke.
Michaela: I compete in the 200 free, 500 free, and the mile.
Why did you choose Roanoke?
Davis: The team was super welcoming combined with great coaches and academics made Roanoke my top choice.
Michaela: I decided to come to Roanoke because I felt like I really bonded with the team after my recruiting trip, I did not have that feeling of community anywhere else that I toured.
How long have you been together?
Davis: I have been dating Michaela for a little over 2 years.
Michaela: A little over 2 years
What was your favorite date night while at Roanoke?
Davis: Thai Continental Cuisine is a great spot with friendly service.
Michaela: There is a Thai restaurant in downtown Roanoke called Thai Continental Cuisine that we love to go to, either that or ice skating.
Favorite Valentine’s pick-up line?
Davis: I don’t really have any cool pick-up lines but anything with a play on words I would find funny.
Michaela: Are you on the Starbucks menu? Because I like you a latte
