Halloween may look different in 2020, but watching Halloween-themed movies is still in season. Classics such as “Psycho” (1960), “Rocky Horror Picture Show” (1975), “The Shining” (1980), and “Silence of The Lambs” (1991) are just some of the beloved classics of the season. These movies can be watched as a family or watched in the dark for an added horror aspect.
While some Halloween movies are more horror-filled, such as “It Follows” (2014), many are more family-oriented. “Coco” (2017), released by Disney, was a worldwide favorite the year it came out. The movie follows a young boy and his dream to become a musician despite his family’s musical ban. Another Disney released movie, “Halloweentown” (1998), was such a hit with audiences that it became a trilogy with “Return to Halloweentown” (2006) as the fourth installment.
For a Halloween-themed comedy, many people’s favorite is “Hocus Pocus” (1993). The movie is so popular that people still quote the infamous Sanderson sisters, and some even listen to “I Put a Spell On You” during the Halloween season. For a more-gory horror movie viewing, Stephen King fans can enjoy the “IT” movies. With so many different types of Halloween movies available, there is a little something for everyone.
Trick or treating this year may be way different, if it even happens, but that doesn’t mean the gang can’t climb on the couch and enjoy some fun family movies or even some gruesome horror-filled ones. With many new films being introduced in the coming years, fans of the Halloween season will have even more movie options to choose from during this spooky season.
