Haunted houses are a defining characteristic of the Halloween season. The greater Roanoke Valley and surrounding areas are BOOming with these scary, sometimes bloody, and always chilling attractions. The following are three highly rated haunted houses within a 30-mile radius.
St. Albans Slayhouse is one of the most popular haunted houses around, located in Radford at 6248 University Park Drive. St. Albans Slayhouse takes place in the building that was formerly used as a real sanitorium and is notorious for paranormal activity. General admission tickets cost $15 and line jump tickets are $25. St. Albans Slayhouse is open from 7-11 P.M. every Friday and Saturday night through Nov. 2.
Hexed, formerly known as the Gallows, is horrifying, violent, and thrilling, complete with a variety of scare tactics and installments. Hexed opens at 7 P.M. every Friday and Saturday night through Nov. 2; located in Elliston at 2059 Burkette Rd. Parking is $5 (cash only) and ticket prices range from $15-$50 depending on package purchase.
Terror Manor, formerly known as Meek’s Manor, is downtown Roanoke’s first commercial haunted house, located at 805 Norfolk Avenue SW. Featuring more than 35 newly renovated rooms, this haunted house is considered original and extreme. Terror Manor is open from 7:30-11 P.M.on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday nights through Nov. 2. On Thursdays, ticket prices range from $15 (with a canned good)-$50 depending on package purchase. On Fridays and Saturdays, parking costs $5 and ticket prices range from $20-$50. Group discounts and season passes are available.
