Alumni Weekend Offers Opportunities for Reconnection, Rejoice

Written by Brice Hall

Alumni Weekend 2019 kicks off on Thursday, April 4, with an Alumni Career Fair that could help modern fledgling Maroons get a job in the big bad real world. Friday features a series of different graduating class and general department reunions. At 7 p.m. on Friday (April 5), there will be an Acapella concert in Alumni Gym.

Also on Friday, from 7:30- 9 p.m., the Office of Multicultural Affairs is hosting a karaoke session in Cavern to cap off the night.

The next day there are a series of hikes offered by Outdoor Adventures to Sawtooth and McAfee. The Greeks of Roanoke will be celebrating returning brothers and sisters with luncheons and cookouts.

Pi Lambda Phi is excited to host a magnum caliber cookout at Elizabeth Campus. Dillon Kopec, Venerable Rex of the Lambda Kappa Chapter, says that he is overwhelmed with joy by the prospect of reconnecting with former brothers.

Junior Pi Lam brother Owen Gold said, “Alumni weekend is what Greek life is about. It shows that it’s not four years, but a lifetime.”

There are dozens of events this weekend that are all geared towards rekindling the alumni’s connection to the beautiful hawk’s nest that is Roanoke. If you go to the RC website and look up Alumni Weekend, you will find a complete list of all of these activities. Go and have an amazing weekend with those who came before you!
