Infinity War: Thanos Demands No Spoilers

Written by Harrison Mines

As excitement builds for this month’s release of the long-awaited Avengers: Infinity War, directors Joe and Anthony Russo took to social media to give fans a cheeky warning before screenings begin. Infinity War is shaping up to be Marvel’s best-kept secret, with a tight-lipped marketing strategy releasing just two trailers over the past six months.

True to this form, the directors’ letter, addressed to “the greatest fans in the world,” announced that special fan screenings would only show limited versions of the film, keeping the plot ultimately hidden until its official release on April 27.

The Russo brothers offered: “everyone involved with the film has worked incredibly hard for the past two years maintaining the highest level of secrecy.”

The letter to fans ends with a plea for no spoilers, claiming the directors want to ensure “equal viewing experience” for all fans, no matter when they watch Infinity War.

In a culture that is so instant, it is safe to say Marvel is working diligently to maintain respect for passionate fans with a spoiler-free viewing experience of yesteryear. Moving forward with an unprecedented dignity in their project, the Russo brothers signed off their letter with a good luck message and a simple teaser hashtag: #ThanosDemandsYourSilence.
