Rock With WRKE X WUVT

Do you like rock? Do you like supporting small artists? Well, you’ve come to the right place. On Saturday, March 28th between 6:30 PM and 9:00 PM, WRKE, in collaboration with WUVT-Blacksburg, are hosting a live showcase! The bands coming to perform are Recluse, Whiskey Go Go, and Lilac Oblivion!

WRKE is our very own student-run radio! We have multiple shows during the week and have even hosted some iconic events like Hour of Dates and Roa-Chella. Both events had huge turnouts that made the Roanoke College community come together.

WUTV-Blacksburg is Virginia Tech’s student-run radio. We’ve collaborated with them in the past with Punk Formal in December, but they host stellar events like we do. Last month they hosted Vinyl Night where you spin a wheel to pick albums they play on the radio as well as different themed House Shows featuring different bands.

Recluse made an appearance throughout the year at Roanoke College, most notably during the month of October for Halloween. They debuted their set, filling up Cavern with good vibes and even better tunes. Our director of WRKE Tori Schoonmaker and WRKE Fellow Gabby Albright are part of Recluse, so make sure to make an appearance to support your fellow Maroons.

Lilac Oblivion is a rock band based in Blacksburg VA. They are consistently releasing music (as of March 27th, a music video of Fading Fast has been released) and love to perform. They have an EP released back in November 2025 called Gullible with 7 songs totaling 27 minutes, go give them some love!

At the time of writing this article, information regarding the background on Whiskey Go Go was unavailable.

Over at Blindhouse Beer Co., 534 Salem Ave SW Roanoke, VA these three bands will make an appearance! If you need transportation to and from the venue, we can provide it! Make sure to talk to the info desk in Colket Center to sign up. There is a $5 fee at the door to come, but you are supporting local artists so totally worth it!
