Is It Time to Disco Yet?

After over a three-year hiatus, British singer/ songwriter Harry Styles has made a grand return, and his fans are absolutely buzzing with excitement, he has a considerably dedicated fanbase.

Not that he made it simple at all, emphasis on “grand.” The artist led his fans to multiple obscure websites including one that had a clock with every tick marked “kiss” except for one, which was marked “disco.” This was esoteric at the time, but once the clock arrived at disco, he made his reveal. It appears he is an expert in getting his die-hard fans hyped up to their maximum, staying up late night talking to see what he has in store.

With such a fanbase, making stylistic changes can be a risk, and this album is not shaping up to be the same music style as it was. What if his fans were turned off by his grand return being… disco? Well, they certainly weren’t, as his newly released single Aperture already has over 32 million streams on Spotify and its music video (absolute cinema, might I add) with 17 million views on YouTube. The response to the change was ecstatic! And despite having left for three years after securing Album of the Year with his record Harry’s House, his complete dominion over the music industry remains untouched.

The new album is set to release on March 6th under the title Kiss All the Time. Disco, Occasionally and will be his fourth studio album. Mr. Styles continues to collaborate with producer Kid Harpoon, who led him to a strong victory with a large amount of production on Harry’s House

With the only taste of the album being Aperture, (which I do believe is very fun and a very enjoyable song) fans are willing to bet that the rest of the album will be as good, or better, given that the album already has many pre-orders and tickets to his tour residing in Madison Square Garden at different dates from August 26th to October 31st

However, numbers aren’t the only thing that matters. It is, after all, about art. The single Aperture can most certainly be listened to for fun, but lyrically, some fans speculate that the song is Mr. Styles’ reflection on his fandom: “We belong together. It finally appears it’s only love” being the chorus of the song, which could be Mr. Styles saying that no matter where his life takes him, his fans appear loyal, as if they are part of a greater belonging, and for a celebrity, this sort of unwavering love can sometimes appear daunting. However, that word: love, is the true nature of his fans. Of course, this is just a theory. For now, I guess we’ll just have to stay daydreaming about it until it arrives.
