I’d like to start off by saying that if you are genuinely ill, the very first thing you should do is see Health Services; this article is NOT medical advice and is not meant to be an alternative for recovery care.
But sometimes, you’re not SICK sick. You feel bad enough that your mood is sour and existing is a little harder, but not sick enough to be restricted to your bed. It sucks to be in that in-between, which is why I’ve compiled my top 3 “health hacks,” as I like to call them, that have absolutely no business making me feel better, and yet somehow they still do.
Thirsty with a sore throat or weak stomach? Try mixing ginger ale and lemon-lime Gatorade! I like to call this my “Uranium Drink” (as mentioned in my other article!), but it genuinely does make me feel better when I drink it.
Next, try listening to your music just a little bit more quietly than usual. Sometimes a small volume change eases a headache I didn’t even realize I was suffering from! Soft audio input will help serve as a distraction without stimulating your brain too much.
Finally, I’ve found that doing simple logic puzzles while I’m not feeling the best helps me stay sharp and focused, so I don’t succumb to the brain fog that can happen when sickness starts.
Hopefully at least one of these tips will help for at least one person! Stay safe and healthy, Maroons!
