With another school year about to be completed, it’s hard not to focus on the end rather than the journey. Sometimes we focus too much on the big wins that will occur in college while we let the small wins slip through our fingers. With graduation nearing and others finishing another year, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed with the uncertainty of “what will I do now?” It can be overwhelming to a certain extent, especially when we compare ourselves with others who seem to have everything figured out and are ready to win in life.
Which is why I ask you to consider this: what about those small wins that you experience every day? Think about those extra points in an assignment you thought you would fail, or winning some extra money by completing a seemingly easy job, cleaning your room, working on a hobby you have been ignoring for a while, or making a friend laugh. These are the small wins we don’t pay attention to in our day-to-day, but reminiscing on these moments can serve as motivation to keep working towards those bigger and more time-consuming wins that we work so hard for.
As we wrap up the school year, I wish for you all to be satisfied with what you have accomplished so far in our college, and for the graduating seniors who feel like they are losing at life, I say, you’re still graduating, and that is still a big win in your book.
