“Hello!” From The New Editor-In-Chief

Hello fellow readers! Starting next year, I will be filling in the position of Editor-in-Chief for the Brackety-Ack. I’m incredibly excited for this opportunity, and have big plans to help refine and elevate the paper as a whole so that its popularity soars to new heights. I couldn’t be any more lucky to be under the wing of Mikaela Gantz – our current Editor-in-Chief – who’s taught me not only how to be a formidable and responsible leader, but also what it means to be courageous when amplifying the voice of this campus. She is an incredible inspiration to me and the rest of the Brackety-Ack, and an even better friend who’s shown kindness even in the most stressful publications. Her influence will carry on throughout the paper’s history, and I only hope to make her proud in the near future.

As for my own goals and aspirations, I’m beyond thrilled to work with what I consider the best possible staff I could ask for. Collaborating with them has made this job a blast, and I can’t wait to work closely with everyone to help make the Brackety-Ack the best it can possibly be. With their support, I desire to make each and every publication bigger and more relevant than the last, making the paper well-recognized here at Roanoke. A little summary about me is that I love to be involved all across campus: from working at the Campus Activity Board, to singing at Choir, to performing at theatre, and so forth. I’m also currently the Sports section editor, but write articles for Entertainment on the side! I’ve also had a humongous passion for writing in general since elementary school, almost to the point where I feel like it’s my lifeblood.

Speaking of which, if you’re interested in working for the Brackety-Ack to write and edit articles, I highly encourage you to apply on Handshake! Keep in mind that it will be quite competitive next year to land a position, however if you’re greatly passionate on the topic, I wouldn’t fret. I’ll be organizing interviews throughout the beginning of August to early fall semester, so be sure not to miss out this opportunity! This is an excellent way to not only make a profit, but also gain experience in journalism, publishing and editing. The earlier you apply, the better!

Overall, I couldn’t be prouder to be a part of the Brackety-Ack. Everyone is so full of enthusiasm, joy, and compassion, it hardly feels like a stressful workplace at all. I can’t wait to see what we’ll accomplish in the upcoming year!
