Hey Maroons! Cannot even believe that it is already the end of the semester. What a time it was to be alive. To kick off our last two weeks of the year, here are some holiday performances you should check out near Roanoke College!
Over at the Shaftman Performance Hall at the Jefferson Center in Roanoke, “A Christmas Carol” will be performing from December 13th-15th! Prices start at $45, and this performance is presented by the Riddlesbrood Touring Theatre Company. There are performances at 7pm (13th & 14th) and 3pm (14th & 15th). If you are unfamiliar with this story, Ebeneezer Scrooge, the number #1 hater of Christmas, learns from his past, present, and future via three ghosts on Christmas Eve transforming his Humbug attitude into a kinder soul. This story is a classic and has been told a myriad of times via stage and movie (like the Muppets). You can purchase tickets at the Jefferson Center’s website if interested.
Over at Mill Mountain Theater in Roanoke, the “quintessential family classic”, Annie: The Musical will be performing until December 22nd. If you are unaware of what the musical pertains to, it is a show set in 1930s New York where we follow the life of Annie; an orphan. Tickets for adults start at $42 (plus $8.75 in fees) and $25 for Youth (+$7 fees). What is especially exciting is that our very own Audrey Hamilton (Head of Costumes in our Theater department) and Kennedy Swineford (who was Sally Bowles in Cabaret last year) helped with the costume constructions for this production! Go see their hard work by purchasing a ticket!
