In a commanding performance at the Frankie Allen Tip-Off Tournament, the Roanoke College men’s basketball team triumphed over Saint Vincent College with a final score of 101-57. The game, held at the Cregger Center, showcased a stellar performance by senior guard Joshua McClary, who scored 24 points, just shy of his career high of 27. McClary also contributed seven assists and five steals, playing a pivotal role in the Maroons’ victory. The game began with the Bearcats taking an early 7-4 lead within the first three minutes. However, Roanoke quickly turned the tide with a 19-0 run, largely driven by McClary’s 11 points, which put them ahead 23-7. By halftime, Roanoke had extended their lead to 49-28 and continued to dominate in the second half, rapidly achieving a 30-point advantage. Several players made significant contributions to Roanoke’s impressive win. Patrick Clevenger added 12 points, five rebounds, and three steals, while Jackson Bell and Joshua Morse scored 11 and 10 points, respectively. Clayton Gaither and Marcus Morgan each chipped in with eight points and four boards. This game marked the first time Roanoke broke the century mark since their 101-53 win over Ferrum on January 25, 2022. For Saint Vincent, Dev Ostrowski and Osyon Jones each scored 11 points, but their efforts were not enough to overcome Roanoke’s dominant performance. With this victory, the Maroons improve to 3-1 for the season. They will next face Washington & Lee University in their Old Dominion Athletic Conference opener, set for Wednesday at 7 p.m. in the Cregger Center.
