For Roanoke’s incredible soccer teams, the lineups have been nothing but sweet sweet victories thus far. Family Weekend was especially plentiful in entertaining games from both the Men and Women’s teams. Starting out strong with the Women’s team, Noke faced off against Sweet Briar College’s Vixens on September 28th, hosted at our home field. It was an incredible wipeout to say the least, the final score tallying up to be a whopping 8-0 with Roanoke as the overwhelming victors. What’s even crazier about this thrilling game is during the second half, there were three consecutive goals scored in roughly a minute. Brooke Nicholson sparked the first at 72:22, Rebecca Carr followed with her own at 72:24, and then lastly Carr scored another to cap it off at 73:34. Way to go, Maroons!
Switching over to the Men’s Soccer team, they’ve been stacking up win after win throughout these past couple of games. Right after the women’s match, Noke played off against Randolph-Macon College on September 28th. Randolph-Macon is historically known to be quite strong in the realm of athletics, however this didn’t deter the Maroons in the slightest. In the end, the final score was 3-0 with Roanoke earning themselves yet another impressive win! They weren’t done yet however, for their next game was against Ferrum College on October 2nd right at our home field. In the end, Roanoke won 2-0, making their overall career score 5-1-2 at the time of this writing. With such impressive feats, it’s no wonder our community is proud to cheer on our talented athletes. Let’s keep up the winning streak!
