Cross Country: The 2019 Roanoke Invitational/ODAC Preview took place last weekend. Emma Maras and Chamberlain Zulauf both finished 17th, the highest placement for each Maroon squad. As a unit, Roanoke finished in 5th place. After some time off, Roanoke’s next venture will be to compete in the Louisville Cross Country Classic on October 5th.
Golf: The men took 6th place in their first tournament, the Green Turtle Invitational. Out of 78 golfers, Roanoke had three players place in the top 20, including; Nicholas Peters, Owen Grayson, and Cameron Dillon. Next week, the Maroons will travel to Bridgewater College to compete in the Kinder Memorial Golf tournament.
Field Hockey: The Field Hockey team (3-1, 0-0 ODAC) had an overtime win over Belmont Abbey on the road this week with Emily Wooten sinking the final goal to close out the game. Upcoming, the Maroons have home games against Centre and Transylvania on Saturday and Sunday, respectively, at noon.
Men’s Soccer: Men’s Soccer (5-0-1, 0-0 ODAC) have started off the season rolling with an unblemished record. The team will travel twice this week, playing against Berry on Friday at 7pm and then wrapping up the weekend against Oglethorpe on Sunday at 1pm.
Women’s Soccer: The Women’s Soccer team (5-2, 0-0 ODAC) is back on track after defeating Greensboro on the road, 2-0. Next up, they play at Pfeiffer on Saturday at 5 pm. The following week, they begin conference play by traveling to Bridgewater on Tuesday at 4pm.
Volleyball: Women’s Volleyball (6-6, 0-2 ODAC) dropped their second conference match this week. Sitting at .500, the Maroons have a chance to bounce back this Friday against Meredith at 5pm, followed by another home game against ODAC foe, Emory and Henry.
