Beginning in 1990 and every other year since then, the Olin and Smoyer Galleries host the Biennial Art Exhibition.
The galleries will be laden with a multitude of artistic creations from individuals within a 200-mi. radius of Roanoke College. The gallery will first open at 6 p.m. on Jan. 25 and lasts until March 17 at 4 p.m.
Technological projects such as mixed media and graphic design will be displayed as well as manually assembled ceramics and paintings.
“There are 88 projects created by 49 artists…we are very excited to see the work that comes in, we should have a large arrangement,” stated Lacey Leonard, Assistant Director of Galleries.
There will also be a lecture and awards ceremony during the open reception with Biennial Juror Elizabeth Cross. Cross is a former professor and renowned poet and artist well-known for her contributions to a variety of institutions, including the National Gallery of Art and the Art Institute of Chicago. It will be a pleasure to welcome such an achieved individual to the premier.
