If you’re looking for a cozy, warm, and inviting atmosphere that doubles as a great place to study and catch up with friends, then head over to Mill Mountain Coffee & Tea. It’s a bit further away from campus than Fruitions is, but offers a plethora of options in the way of both food and drink. The baristas are super friendly, and make sure that your need for caffeine is met as soon as possible, even when there’s a crowd.
Mill Mountain offers plenty of hot and cold drinks, and not just coffee and tea! At this time of year, make sure to try their Apple Chaider – it’s fall in a cup. Or, if it’s warmer out, they offer smoothies. If you’re a tea drinker, they have tons of options, both hot and iced. If you’re a no-nonsense coffee drinker, get your coffee black in one of their many different blends. If you love the frills of flavor shots, whipped cream, and caramel drizzle, try something like their pumpkin chai.
Mill Mountain offers big tables and plenty of seating for those looking to study, or just catch up with friends. There’s plenty of room to spread out your textbooks, or for you and your friends to sip the latest tea.

If you’re looking for cute, fun and fresh don’t go any further than the bright teal building on College Avenue. Fruitions has long been a staple in the Roanoke College experience for guys and girls alike. When the weather is particularly warm, there is nothing better than grabbing your best bros or your favorite sisters and trying one of their 30 delicious and fulfilling flavors. The sun in always shining, the staff is always smiling and the drinks are always cold over here!
Not only can you get a quick pep in your step and go from one of their delicious blends of the nectar of the Gods if you’re on the way to class, but if Commons isn’t looking too hot on a specific day, you can also stay in and grab a bite with one (or a few, no one is going to judge) of their delectable wraps, soups or salads.
It’s not conducive to doing homework but who would want to do homework in an environment that screams conversations and bonding. With abundant sunlight and good music (coming from our very own WRKE) a textbook will be the last thing you think of, and let’s face it, we could all use a little sanctuary.
