First and foremost, let’s take a moment to pretend that my pun in the title where I combined my name and the word “reintroduction” was hilarious. Great! As you can probably gather, my name is Ren Monin. I am a senior here at Roanoke College, working toward a major in History with a Political Science minor and a Gender and Women’s Studies concentration. I have been with the Brackety-Ack since the end of my freshman year, and I wrote articles in the Opinions section for two years. Being moved to the Culture, Wellness, and Lifestyle section is somewhat of a big change for me, so I hope you will all bear with me during this transitional period until I find my footing and deliver the quality writing you all deserve!

In the meantime, I will share an example of my own wellness- or lack thereof, unfortunately. I began experiencing symptoms of a common cold about a week into September. No big deal– except it was not getting better by the middle of the month. I lost my voice for multiple days, and still have not recovered 100%. Just when I thought the worst of it was over and I was on the mend, I discovered that my ailments had evolved into… an ear infection!! Fortunately, after a Friday night ER trip, I was able to obtain antibiotics. However, as of writing this on Monday, Sept. 22, I still cannot hear out of my left ear!!

Let my story be a word of caution to you all. Make sure you take the utmost care to wash your hands regularly, avoid contact with people who may be sick, eat plenty of fruits and vegetables for your immune system health (this is honestly probably the biggest reason I got as sick as I did), and always go to Health Services as soon as you notice something’s off! I hope you all manage to avoid the “first week flu,” or “frat flu” as my friend called it!
